post-hardcore screamo anyone?

im not really into this genre. but when i heard the emotional drive behind their music i was allured. the screaming suddenly complimented the music. it no longer sounded unnecessarily crude.

their first full length was back in 1999 (the frailty of words). they started out as a christian band but according to wikipedia, they havent considered themselves a christian band since 2002.

they then released an EP in 2001 (no wings to speak of) under a different label that made a splash in their genre. yes, it is hardcore and screamo. yet its so melodic and beautiful. the picture you see is the cover to 'the satellite years' which is the full length they released after 'no wings to speak of' that followed suit in sound and style.

they did release another full length in 2004 (A types) but they lost a lot of what they were known for. there is hardly any screaming in it and fewer instrumental breakdowns. they lost a good portion of their fanbase with the release of it.

try some off 'the satellite years' if you want:
hopesfall - andromeda (the album opener. an instrumental track to get you in the mood)
hopesfall - dana walker
hopesfall - the bending

I like Satellite Years and their older albums (frailty of Words, etc). A lot of fans were disgruntled with A Types but actually i liked it a lot. Not as much hardcore but definately melodic.

One of my blog entries was actually inspired by the song "Icarus" off A Types.
