m83: saturdays = youth

so to kick things off is a post of a band ive posted before. but their (or his, anthony gonzalez) new release is just so good that its worth a mention. i also think its okay to post new releases of music weve posted in the past. itll help us keep up to date without having to do all the research on our own. m83 started out as a duo but for the past few releases, its just been gonzalez and him teaming up with various artists and producers.

m83 is known for lush textures and layers of synth sounds that are reminiscent of the 80's era. this album especially is a homage to his teenage years and is less soundscapey and less of a concept album than his previous releases. some songs are good ol' sing-a-long, foot tappin' songs. yet they still retain that big cinematic epic sound m83 has become known and loved for. i already anticipate this being one of my favorite releases of 2008. i also love the cover art. as much as ive never really felt a connection to 80's music and 80's fashion, this album has me mystified by the angst and magic of it all.

jiaran and i already have songs from saturdays = youth in our own respective muxtapes, so i uploaded two different songs for the musicmonger muxtape. enjoy!
